Project Overview
Avantor’s Shanghai headquarters is a 2024 workplace project recorded at approximately 5,000 square metres. The interior brings together reception, open collaboration, focused work and meeting functions within a bright, contemporary environment.
The furniture strategy supports those varied modes without losing visual continuity. Clean-lined work settings are paired with more expressive lounge elements, allowing formal and informal spaces to coexist within one workplace identity.

Interior Vision
At reception, a luminous branded wall and sculptural desk create a precise, technology-oriented first impression. Nearby modular seating introduces blocks of blue, green and neutral colour, giving the waiting area a more human scale.
Across the workplace, pale surfaces and extensive glazing help preserve daylight. Furniture adds definition through colour, upholstery and geometry rather than through heavy spatial barriers.

Furniture Integration
Reception and lounge
- Modular upholstered seating creates multiple sitting directions within a compact footprint.
- Blue and green accents connect the social setting to the brand-facing reception zone.
- Small movable tables support waiting, informal conversation and short touchdown use.

Collaboration and meeting
- Tables and seating establish clear settings for group discussion and project work.
- Varied chair types respond to different meeting durations and levels of formality.
- A consistent neutral base allows selected colour accents to guide attention.

Open workplace
- Workstations are organized for visual order and efficient circulation.
- Task seating supports the more focused areas of the plan.
- Shared zones provide alternatives to desk-based work throughout the day.

Result
The headquarters reads as a connected workplace rather than a collection of isolated rooms. Its furniture settings help people shift between waiting, meeting, collaborating and focused work, while colour and form bring warmth to the clean architectural backdrop.
Yuulyn Insights
- Modular lounge furniture can make reception space more adaptable without compromising a polished first impression.
- Colour is most effective when it helps identify activity zones rather than acting as decoration alone.
- A workplace feels coherent when open work, meeting and social settings share a common material logic.
